Introduction
At an international level, in an increasing number of countries subjected to seismic hazard, performance-base design – based on capable deformations of the structure – with the explicit approach of the structure’s incursions in the postelastic field, is gaining more and more ground against the “traditional” design -force-based methods.
Performance-based design can be approached using two tools, pushover or time history.
The first approach in the opinion of the authors, in the saving of time available for the design of the structure allocated today seems much more attractive and possible to include in the budget. Although the limitations of capturing dynamic effects are obvious, the computational effort is much reduced and the results are obtained in a suggestive manner.
